1. Who is responsible (controller)

This website is operated by Benika s.r.o., Company ID (IČO) 03828425, registered office at Atlasová 1841, 250 82 Úvaly, Czech Republic. For any privacy matter contact us at info@benika.cz.

2. What we collect

Account data: name, email address and a hashed password when you register.

Inquiries: the contact details and message you submit through our forms, plus your IP address (abuse prevention).

Member activity: which one-pager documents you download, and counters of how often you use the translation tools (dates and volumes — not the content).

Documents you upload for translation: the file itself and its translated result are stored in our storage so you can download them, and — only if you tick the email option — receive them by email.

Technical logs kept by our hosting provider (Cloudflare) for security and performance.

3. Why we process it (legal bases)

To provide the services you request — account, member area, document translation, and optional result delivery by email (performance of a contract, Art. 6(1)(b)).

To answer your inquiries (steps prior to a contract, Art. 6(1)(b), or legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f)).

To keep the site secure — rate limiting, abuse prevention, bot protection (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f)).

We do not use your data for advertising and we do not sell it.

4. Who processes data for us

Cloudflare, Inc. — hosting, storage and security for the whole site (EU/US; EU–US Data Privacy Framework participant).

Resend (Plus Five Five, Inc.) — sends our emails, e.g. translated documents (US; standard contractual clauses).

DeepSeek — the AI engine that performs the translation. The text content of documents and web pages you submit for translation is sent to DeepSeek for processing (servers in China).

MinerU / OpenDataLab — parses PDF files you upload for translation (servers in China).

Practical note: only submit documents for translation that you are comfortable sending through these engines. Do not upload documents containing special-category data (health, etc.) of third parties.

5. International transfers

Using the translation tools involves transferring the submitted content to processors outside the EU (see section 4), which is necessary to perform the service you request (Art. 49(1)(b) GDPR). If you do not want this, do not use the translation tools.

6. How long we keep data

Account data: until you ask us to delete your account.

Inquiries: as long as needed to handle them, then up to 2 years for follow-up.

Uploaded and translated documents: we do not retain them. The uploaded original is deleted the moment translation finishes; the translated result is deleted automatically within 24 hours (kept only so you can download it, or have it emailed if you asked for that). Any copy emailed to you stays in your own mailbox. The task record itself (file name, language, status) is deleted 48 hours after upload, and you can clear your history at any time from the translation page.

Usage counters and download logs: up to 2 years, for capacity planning and abuse tracing.

7. Your rights

You can request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and object to processing based on legitimate interest — write to info@benika.cz. We answer within one month.

You can complain to the Czech supervisory authority: Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů (uoou.gov.cz).

8. Cookies

We only set cookies that are necessary for the site to function: bk_session (keeps you logged in, 7 days), lang (your language choice, 1 year), cookie_notice (remembers you dismissed the cookie note, 1 year). Cloudflare Turnstile may set a security cookie when protecting our forms.

No analytics or advertising cookies are used.

Embedded videos (YouTube, TikTok) load only after you click them. When you load a video, the platform may set its own cookies under its own policy. YouTube is embedded via the privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie.com domain.

We may update this policy as the services evolve; the current version always lives at this address. Last updated: 2026-07-07.
